Point a domain at your Web Hosting
For your website and email to work on your hosting, your domain has to point at it. You can do that in two ways: change the domain’s nameservers (best for most people), or keep your DNS where it is and add A records.
You’ll find these details on the account’s page in the console, under Account and DNS:
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Nameserver 1 | ns1.cloudzyroserver.com |
| Nameserver 2 | ns2.cloudzyroserver.com |
| Server address (for A records) | 23.106.58.166 |
If a domain isn’t pointing at its hosting yet, the account’s page shows a note headed Point yourdomain.com at your hosting. It goes once the domain points there.
Option 1: change the nameservers
Section titled “Option 1: change the nameservers”This hands the domain’s DNS to your hosting, so your website and email records are set up for you and you manage them in cPanel.
A domain registered with Cloudzyro
Section titled “A domain registered with Cloudzyro”-
In the console, open Domains and click the domain.
-
Under What it’s for, choose Cloudzyro Web Hosting.
-
Click Save nameservers.
If the domain isn’t the main domain of a hosting account yet, add it to your hosting in cPanel (under Domains) so its website and email work there. See Choose what a domain is for.
A domain registered somewhere else
Section titled “A domain registered somewhere else”-
Sign in where your domain is registered.
-
Find its nameserver settings (often called Nameservers or DNS servers) and choose to use custom nameservers.
-
Replace the existing nameservers with
ns1.cloudzyroserver.comandns2.cloudzyroserver.com, and save.
Option 2: add A records
Section titled “Option 2: add A records”Use this if you want to keep your DNS with your current provider, for example because other services depend on it.
At your DNS provider, add or change these records:
| Name | Type | Value |
|---|---|---|
@ (the domain itself) |
A | 23.106.58.166 |
www |
A | 23.106.58.166 |
Remove any other A, AAAA or CNAME records for @ and www, or visitors may be sent elsewhere.
With A records, only your website moves. If you also want email on your hosting, the nameservers option is simpler, because the mail records are set up for you. To keep DNS elsewhere and use hosting email, add these too:
| Name | Type | Value |
|---|---|---|
mail |
A | 23.106.58.166 |
@ (the domain itself) |
MX, priority 0 | mail.example.com (your domain in place of example.com) |
Remove any other MX records, or email may be delivered somewhere else.
Manage DNS records in cPanel
Section titled “Manage DNS records in cPanel”When your domain uses ns1 and ns2.cloudzyroserver.com, its DNS records live in cPanel’s Zone Editor. That’s where you add records for other services, such as verification TXT records or a subdomain pointed elsewhere.
-
Open cPanel from the console (Web Hosting, then cPanel on the account).
-
In cPanel, under Domains, open Zone Editor.
-
Click Manage next to the domain, then add, edit or delete records.
How long changes take
Section titled “How long changes take”DNS changes don’t reach everyone at once. A new A record or an edit in Zone Editor usually works within an hour or so. Nameserver changes usually take a few hours and can take up to a day, because providers keep the old answers for a while.
During that time some visitors may still reach the old place. If nothing has changed after a day, check the records for typos and see Domain not working.
