Renew a domain or move it away
This page covers looking after a domain registered with Cloudzyro: keeping it renewed, keeping it safe from unwanted transfers, updating who owns it, and moving it to another registrar if you want to. Everything here is on the domain’s page in Domains, and owners and admins of the workspace can change it.
Auto-renew
Section titled “Auto-renew”Domains renew every year. The renewal card on the domain’s page shows the date it Renews or Expires, with an Auto-renew switch. You can also switch auto-renew on or off for each domain in the Domains list, or for several at once by selecting them and using the actions menu.
How renewals are charged
Section titled “How renewals are charged”Renewals are charged a week before the domain expires. How depends on how you got the domain:
- Bought in Domains: charged to the card you paid with, at the same price as buying it, plus tax.
- Bought with Web Hosting in the hosting cart: charged with your Web Hosting payment, plus tax. Billing, Web Hosting shows the domain’s renewal date and price on the hosting plan’s card.
- Moved from the old dashboard: charged with your Web Hosting payment at its old price, including tax. If you don’t have Web Hosting, click Set up renewal on the domain’s page: we save your card and charge it a week before the domain expires. See Moved from the old dashboard.
Billing, Domains lists every domain with its renewal date, price and how it’s paid. To update the card for a domain bought in Domains, click Update card next to the domain there.
Domain registrations aren’t refundable.
Transfer lock
Section titled “Transfer lock”The Transfer lock card on the domain’s page shows Locked or Unlocked, with a switch.
- Locked: nobody can move the domain to another registrar. Keep it locked unless you’re moving it yourself.
- Unlocked: it can be moved. Lock it again when you’re done.
You can also lock or unlock several domains at once from the Domains list.
Owner details
Section titled “Owner details”The Owner details card shows the owner as the registry holds them. To change them, click Edit owner details, update the details, and click Save owner details.
Keep the email address up to date: the registry may email it to confirm it’s real, and transfer codes are sent there.
For .uk and .co.uk domains, the name and organisation can’t be changed here, because Nominet, the .uk registry, treats a new name as a new owner. You can still update the address, email and phone. To change who owns a .uk domain, email support@cloudzyro.com.
Move a domain to another registrar
Section titled “Move a domain to another registrar”You’re free to move a domain away at any time. It keeps working while it moves.
.com, .net, .org and .io
Section titled “.com, .net, .org and .io”-
On the domain’s page, turn the Transfer lock off.
-
Under Moving it to another registrar, click Email the transfer code. We email the code to the owner’s address at the registry. It usually arrives within a few minutes: check spam if it doesn’t. You can ask for it at most once every 10 minutes.
-
Start the transfer at your new registrar with that code.
If the email address in Owner details is out of date, update it first, or the code goes to the old address (and see the 60-day note above).
.uk and .co.uk
Section titled “.uk and .co.uk”-
Ask your new registrar for their IPS tag.
-
Email it to support@cloudzyro.com, with the domain name, from the email address you sign in to Cloudzyro with, so we can see it’s you.
We change the tag, and your new registrar takes it from there.
Afterwards
Section titled “Afterwards”Once the transfer has finished, the domain is managed at the new registrar. It’s removed from Domains in the console and its renewal stops, so you’re not charged for it again.
